Che Kung Temple
Hong Kong, China
Located in Sha Tin, the Che Kung Temple is a magnificent tribute to the nomadic military commander of the Southern Song dynasty, revered for his ability to suppress plagues and disasters. This striking architectural marvel, primarily rebuilt in 1993, showcases traditional Lingnan style with its expansive courtyards and intricate carvings. Visitors and devotees flock here particularly during the Lunar New Year to spin the auspicious bronze fan-shaped wheels. Traditionally spun three times, these wheels are believed to reverse ill fortune and beckon prosperity. The temple’s serene atmosphere and vibrant red facades offer a profound window into Hong Kong’s spiritual heritage and local folk traditions.
